The Wisdom Of Understanding God's Work

A study of Ecclesiastes 3:11

In our lives, we often tend to want to understand everything. We want to know why things happen to us and what tomorrow holds. But we often forget that, even though we are human beings gifted with reason and reasoning, there are some things we can never understand in this life. That's where the wisdom of understanding God's work comes in. Ecclesiastes 3:11 teaches us that God makes everything happen at the right time and that we can never understand the whole of God's work.

This biblical teaching is essential, to remind us that we are not all-powerful, and that we need to trust God in everything.

The first point we can make from this verse is that God makes everything happen at the right time. Patience is a rare virtue in today's world. We want everything, right away. We need to know the future to be sure we're on the right track. However, God tells us to trust his perfect timing. Everything that happens to us, even the difficult things, takes place at God's timing. We need to trust in him and his purposes for our lives, even when we don't understand the why of things.

The second important point of this verse is that we cannot understand the whole of God's work. Even if we have questions and requests, we can never understand it all. We tend to think we have a clear vision of our life and future, but we're often wrong. God sees us in our totality and has a much broader view of our lives than we could ever have. Therefore, we must understand that the things that happen to us in life don't always have an easy answer, and we must be prepared to accept that we don't understand everything.

The third important point of this verse is that God gives human beings the desire to know both the past and the future. This curiosity is natural to human beings. We want to know our origins and understand our future. However, we cannot know it all exhaustively. God leaves us traces of his work in our lives and in the world, but we can't know everything. So we have to learn to have faith in God, even when it doesn't seem easy.

The fourth point we can take from this verse is that God has the power to grant all our wishes. This doesn't mean that we can have everything easily, but it does show God's benevolence towards us. He knows the desires of our heart and he can answer them, even if not always in the way we expect. Therefore, we must learn to pray with faith and trust him to answer our requests in the way he deems best for us.

In short, Ecclesiastes 3:11 reminds us to trust God in every situation. We need to understand that the things that happen to us in life happen when God allows them to, and that we can't understand everything. We must learn to accept the things that happen to us, even when it seems hard to understand. We must also learn to have faith in God, in his goodness and in the wisdom of his will. If we can apply these principles to our daily lives, we will notice significant spiritual growth and an inner peace that comes from trusting God.

God bless you all!
