The Cross, the Only Foundation of Unity
In a world where unity seems increasingly to be a fleeting concept, it's important for us Christians to remember the true source of our unity: - the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. No matter who we are or where we come from, the cross represents our fundamental unity in Him. In this text, we'll explore the Scriptures and discover how our devotion to Christ is the key to our unity in Him.
The Importance of Devotion to Christ:
In Colossians 2:8-10, Paul warns us against practicing the precepts of men, which lead only to ruin. He reminds us that our devotion to Christ is the key to our unity in Him. By learning to put into practice what we have learned from Him, we are able to build a solid foundation for our unity in Him that will not be shaken by doctrinal differences or cultural divergences.
The Blood of the Cross:
In Hebrews 13:12-14, we are encouraged to go outside the camp to meet Christ. Here, the "camp" represents all that is impure or opposed to Him. Christ's blood on the cross has freed us from the grip of all that opposes Him, and enables us to live in Him and for Him. It is only by putting on the armor of Christ, bearing His words and walking with Him, that we are able to maintain our unity in Him.
The Vision of God's Unity:
In John 17:21, Jesus prayed for the unity of all who would believe in Him, "that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us, so that the world may believe that you sent me." Here we become aware of God's vision of unity for His Church. He wants us to be united in Him, just as He and the Father are united. This unity, based on our love for Him, is the key that opens the doors for non-believers to believe in Him.
The Cross, Our Foundation :
Finally, in Galatians 6:14, Paul reminds us that the cross is the foundation of our unity in Christ: "As for me, far be it from me to glory in anything other than the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom the world is crucified to me, just as I am to the world." The cross is our solid foundation. It is by fixing our eyes on Christ crucified that we are able to maintain our unity in Him and live for Him.
Our unity in Christ is a gift from God that we have a responsibility to preserve. We must be devoted to Him and deepen our relationship with Him, in order to maintain our unity in Him.
The cross of Christ is our solid foundation and the key to unity with our brothers and sisters in the faith. Let us continue together to be united in Christ, so that the world may believe in Him and see His glory in our unity in Him.
May the Lord bless you!
