How to focus on Positive Thoughts

The world around us is full of negative information. It's easy to get overwhelmed by criticism, anger or pessimistic thoughts. Yet the Bible teaches us how to focus on positive thoughts by reminding us to that "whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovable, whatever deserves approval, whatever is virtuous and worthy of praise, be the object of your thoughts". (Philippians 4:8). Here's what we can learn from this Bible verse.

1. Think about what's right

The world is imperfect and unfair, but that doesn't mean we should let ourselves be overwhelmed by these negative ideas. Instead, we should focus on what's right - what's fair and moral. Think about the actions you can take to make a positive difference in the world, rather than focusing on the negatives.

2. Listen to your thoughts and words

Our thoughts have an impact on the way we feel and act. If you find that your thoughts are mainly negative, it's important to start paying attention to what you're thinking and try to change that. Also listen to the words you use in your everyday language. Try to replace negative words with positive ones.

3. Avoid sources of negativity

It's easy to be overwhelmed by negative information in the media and conversations. Avoid sources of negativity as much as possible by limiting your time in front of the TV or on social networks, choosing positive friends and avoiding conversations that may make you feel uncomfortable. This way, you'll be surrounded by positive thoughts that will influence your own thoughts.

4. Practice gratitude

Gratitude is a powerful way to focus on the positive aspects of life. Take time each day to reflect on what you're grateful for. It can be something as simple as appreciating the beauty of nature around you or rejoicing in the friendship you have with someone. Make gratitude a regular practice and you'll see that it will have an impact on your state of mind.

5. Trust in God

The Bible teaches us that we can entrust our worries to God. By doing so, we can unload our negative thoughts and focus on positive ones. Learn to let go of negative thoughts and trust God to handle life's challenges.

The Bible, reminds us of the importance of focusing on positive thoughts. By thinking about what's right, listening to our thoughts and language, avoiding sources of negativity, practicing gratitude and trusting God, we can overcome life's challenges with positive thoughts. Every day, try putting these tips into practice, to see the impact it can have on your state of mind.

Shalom!
