Thirst for a fruitful Christian life
"If you bear much fruit, this is how my Father will be glorified and you will be my disciples." (John 15:8)
Thirst is a desire, an urge, a need to drink. God's desire is for us to bear fruit in abundance. It's on the spiritual level that we must first invest ourselves, and the rest will follow.
Spiritual hard work
At the age of 12, Jesus was already taking care of his Father's business. Don't wait until you're old to get involved in God's business; get involved now.
Read John 4:5-6, 31-34. In this portion of Scripture, you see Jesus sitting at the edge of a well, weary and recruited. His disciples have gone into town to buy food. Here is a Samaritan woman who takes herself to the well to draw water. Jesus immediately forgets his tiredness and starts a conversation with the woman, with the aim of winning her over. In the middle of the conversation, the disciples return, and urge Jesus to eat. Jesus' response is firm: "My food is to do the will of the one who sent me and to accomplish his work" (Jn. 4:34). Jésus did his Father's work despite his fatigue. Today, people give many excuses for not committing to God's work.
- prayer is work;
- teaching the Word is work;
- evangelism is work;
- Sweeping the church is hard work.
"Be zealous, not lazy; be fervent in spirit. Serve the Lord" (Rom. 12:11).)
