What Religion teaches is not necessarily the Gospel
I don't live in holiness to draw God's eyes to me, but holiness I live as a logical consequence of my new identity.
Colossians 3:1-3 "1 But you also have been raised with Christ: seek therefore the things that are above, where Christ is, who "sits at the right hand of God". 2 Set your minds on the things above, not on the things of the earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God."
I don't run away from sin so that God will bless me. But I run away from sin because it's not my life anymore, I don't recognize myself in it.
Romans 6:1-4 "1 What can we say now? Shall we persist in sin that grace may abound? 2 Far from it! Since we died for sin, how could we still live in sin?
3 Do you not know that all of us who were baptized for Jesus Christ were baptized in connection with his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him in baptism in connection with his death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, we too may lead a new life."
Prayer should not just be transformed into endless moments of request, but should be much more a quality time when we express our complicity with God, our adherence to his Word, our confession of Christ's totally accomplished work. A time when we appreciate the work of the cross, when we say thank you to God for having given us everything in Christ. It should be a time of peaceful exchange with the One who is there, without fuss or haste. It should be a time when we come to justify God, to vindicate him, to love what he loves. Study Jesus' prayer in John 17:1-26.
Such a moment spent with God would not let out the one who prayed as he had come.
Fasting should not be seen as a means of forcing God to give us things. But it should be seen as an effective means of subduing our flesh, of mortifying it so that it obeys the spirit and enables us to operate in the supernatural. Try 58:3, "What's the use of us fasting, if you don't see it? Why humiliate us, if you take no notice?" In the day when you fast, you transact your business and exploit all your workers."
Bless you!
