Rejection is not the end of the story

Rejection causes one of the deepest wounds of all. Whether we're rejected for who we are or what we do, it hurts. We all aspire to be accepted by others, and when we're not, it's painful.

In Mark 12:10, Jesus quotes Psalm 118:22: "Have you not read this word of Scripture: The stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner (...)?"

In ancient constructions, builders carefully sought out the stone that would become the cornerstone, the one that would determine the stability of the foundation of the entire structure. Ironically, the stone rejected by the builders became the most important.

Jesus experienced rejection. But here's the good news: rejection doesn't have the last word. Not for Jesus, and not for us.

Jesus, the one rejected by the world, became the foundation of the kingdom of God. So, because he is the cornerstone, we need not fear rejection. In him we find acceptance. In him, we are completely recognized and loved.

Rejection may seem like the end of the story, but in Jesus, it's often the beginning of a new story.
