Eager to do God's work
Many Christians are passionate about serving the Lord, about doing His work. They seek to understand how they can demonstrate their zeal with eagerness. In the Bible, eagerness is often mentioned when believers are called to serve God. But what does it mean to do God's work with eagerness?
What can we learn from the Bible about this attitude? We'll find out in this article.
1. Eagerness implies a disposition of the heart
Doing God's work with eagerness concerns not only a believer's actions, but also his inner attitude. Eagerness is a disposition of the heart that manifests a fervent and sincere desire to serve God. In In Romans 12:11, Paul exhorts Christians to "be fervent in spirit, [to] serve the Lord". It means having a passionate heart for God and being willing to serve even in difficult times.
2. Eagerness implies immediate action
Urgency also implies immediate action. In In Acts 16:9-10, Paul receives a vision from the Spirit of God, who shows him an open door to preach the Gospel. Immediately, he sets out for this new destination to do God's work. In the same way, when God calls us to do something, we need to act quickly and decisively, knowing that opportunities may be fleeting and that the harvest is plentiful.
3. Eagerness is motivated by love
Eagerness in God's work is also motivated by love for God and others. In In 1 Corinthians 16:14, Paul exhorts believers to "let everything you do be done with love". Love is the fundamental principle that guides our readiness to serve God. It is not simply an obligatory activity, but rather an act of service inspired by God's love for those He has created.
4. Readiness implies commitment
Readiness implies an unwavering commitment to God's work. In In Colossians 3:23-24, Paul encourages believers by saying "whatever you do, do it with all your heart, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that you will receive a reward from the Lord". We must be serious in our commitment to God's work, knowing that our reward will come from Him.
In conclusion, the eagerness to do God's work is a call that every Christian must answer with passion, action, love and commitment. It means having an inner attitude of fervent desire, acting quickly and decisively, being guided by God's love for others, and committing ourselves unfailingly to the work He has called us to do.
May your zeal to serve God be accompanied by your faith and love for God, so that you may receive the reward He has in store for you.
God bless you all!
