From slaves to heirs

Can you imagine inheriting a great deal of wealth or property, or even just receiving something very precious for free? In Galatians 4:7, the apostle Paul writes: "So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if you are a son, you are also an heir by the grace of God." According to Paul, God's children will receive an enormous inheritance.

But this is no ordinary inheritance. Paul is talking about an inheritance far superior to what we usually think of as wealth.

Paul informs us that God delivers us from our bondage to the powers of this world. And Jesus frees us from sin, darkness and death. In the person of the Messiah, God adopts us into his family as his beloved children and heirs. As a result, we inherit God's endless life and receive honor, love and a true home in a renewed creation.

What might change in your interactions and thoughts about other followers of Jesus, if you saw them as children of God, and beloved brothers and sisters, and not as competitors or opponents? Most people will never receive huge inheritances of wealth or property, but God's children will all receive equally and without partiality, God's endless love and eternal life.

Take a deep breath, pause and reflect on the eternal inheritance you share with Jesus and the other members of God's family.
Don't forget to Thank God at all times, every time
