Pride comes before the Fall

The Bible is full of warnings about the dangers of pride. In In Proverbs 16:18, we are warned that "pride goes before destruction." This means that when we become proud, it leads to our downfall. Pride is an attitude of superiority and self-importance. It's thinking that we're better than others and that we don't need God. When we are proud, we are not humble and we are not teachable. We think we know it all and don't need anyone's help. Pride is a dangerous attitude, because it leads to self-reliance instead of trust in God.

When we are proud, we don't depend on God for our strength or wisdom. We depend on ourselves. That's a recipe for disaster, because we're not capable of doing everything on our own. We are not meant to live alone. We are meant to depend on God and lean on him for everything. When we try to live alone, we end up falling, because we were never designed to live that way.

The good news is that there is hope for us, even if we have been proud. When we realize we need God and ask him for forgiveness, he will forgive us and help us overcome our pride. He will help us become humble and teachable so we can live the life he has planned for us.
