Inheriting from our father: God's grace

It is often said that a son always inherits from his father. This is true, no matter how obedient or disobedient the son.

However, when it comes to our earthly fathers, this inheritance can vary greatly in terms of what it includes and its value. But when we look at our spiritual inheritance in Jesus Christ, the grace of our heavenly Father is far greater than any material possession we may receive. Let's see why.

The eternal gift of salvation

The most precious thing a son can inherit from his father is the gift of salvation in Jesus Christ. No matter how disobedient a human son may be, Jesus has opened the doors wide for anyone who calls on His name to receive eternal life and enter paradise forever. This beautiful assurance of eternity with our Creator offers peace and joy beyond measure as we live each day in faithfulness to Him.

Our heavenly Father grants us his grace even if we have done nothing to deserve it; he is so loving and merciful! As a result, he blesses us with far more than any earthly father could ever offer his children, no matter how obedient, for he grants us eternal life through the gift of his Son. It's an inheritance worth infinitely more than any amount of money or material possession we could ever receive here on earth!

God's unfailing love and mercy

In addition to offering us salvation through his beloved Son, God also extends his love and mercy directly to us, every day without fail. Not only does this love comfort us in times of distress, it also encourages us to lead lives pleasing to Him by seeking ways to serve others around us. What's more, this kind of love gives us hope that, no matter what happens in life, God will never leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). We can always turn to him in times of need, knowing that he will be waiting for us with open arms!

Clearly, the inheritance that all sons receive from their earthly fathers is nothing compared to what God has given us in Jesus Christ, eternal life!

No matter how disobedient or faithful a son may be on this earth, he will always inherit from his Father through faith in Jesus Christ, which results in salvation and an unfailing love that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
