For by believing in the heart we attain to righteousness, and by confessing with the mouth we attain to salvation ( Romans 10:10).

The heart is the most important organ in our body. This is where you must believe, otherwise there will be no way for righteousness (arah) and salvation (eshua) to enter your life! Romans 10:10 tells us that believing with the heart leads to righteousness, and confessing with the mouth leads to salvation. In other words, if we want to be saved, we must believe with our hearts and confess with our mouths.

Why is the heart so important?

The heart is the center of our emotions and determines our behavior. Our thoughts and actions are all influenced by our heart. If we have a wicked heart, it will lead us down a path of destruction. But if we have a pure heart, it will lead us to righteousness.

How can we know whether we have a wicked or a pure heart?

One way to find out is to look at our actions. Do our actions reflect God's love? Or do they reflect something else entirely? Another way to find out is to look at our thoughts. What do we think about when we're idle? Are our thoughts filled with anger, lust or greed? Or are they filled with love, joy and peace?

What does your heart say about you?

If you want to be saved, you must have a pure heart that believes in Jesus Christ. Check your actions and thoughts today and see if they reflect a pure heart. If they don't, ask God to help you purify your heart so you can be saved.
