THEME: LIVING A GRACE-FILLED MARRIAGE

Today, we're just going to take an introductory session, this session is entitled:

Session I: Grace and Mercy Protect the Conjugal Relationship

The two main elements you need to use and apply to protect your marriage are

GRACE and MERCY

Many people think that it's good sex or good cooking that protects a marriage. African mothers often tell their daughters that to keep their home, they must take good care of the household. "belly" and "lower abdomen "from their husbands. This is good advice. Making love and cooking well are good ingredients for the well-being of a marriage, but they don't protect a home. Many a woman will testify that, despite doing everything for her husband, he cheats on her. There are many women who cook perfectly well, but their husbands hardly eat at all, because they always come home late and sometimes don't even sleep at home. These things are good, but they don't protect the home. I've seen men abandon their wives to go into the arms of women who aren't even up to their wives' standards.

It's not your prayers that will protect your marriage. I love prayer and encourage couples to pray together, but prayer is not the essential element that protects a relationship. There are people who pray a lot, but who don't have emotional stability and are not at all happy in their couples. You have to know how to put each element in its place if you really want to live happily in marriage.

  • You Must Protect Your Marriage by Grace and Mercy.

Grace is an undeserved favor. It allows us to receive benefits we don't deserve. The
Mercy, on the other hand, means not receiving the punishment you really deserve.
It's very helpful to understand how mercy and grace work, because by understanding them you'll know how to truly protect your relationship.

We have all experienced the grace and mercy of our King and Savior Jesus. Our Savior Jesus Christ judged us guilty and then voluntarily took our punishment upon Himself. Through His grace, we receive the benefit of forgiveness and the eternal life we did not deserve. By His mercy, we are saved from the eternal punishment we truly deserved.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; and they are justified freely by his grace, through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus. He is the one whom God destined, through his blood, to be a propitiatory victim for those who believe, in order to show his justice, because he had left unpunished the sins committed before, in the time of his patience; in order, I say, to show his justice in the present time, so as to be just while justifying those who have faith in Jesus". Romans 3:23-26

Jesus Christ justified us freely, we who were deprived of the glory of God because of our sins. We hadn't asked him for anything before he thought of saving us, and that's what we call God's grace and mercy.

"For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

God's free gift is eternal life in Jesus Christ, our Lord. We have received the grace of God, who in reality deserved only condemnation; he has saved us freely. Our relationship with Christ is based on grace and mercy, not on anything else. Without God's grace and mercy, everything we could do would be null and void.

May God bless you

Pastor Clément
