Good deeds

God's plan for us the Eternal

(Ephesians 2:10) tells us that we owe what we are to God. Through our union with Christ, Jesus, God has created us for a life filled with good works, which he has prepared in advance for us to perform.
In other words, good works aren't something we have to do to earn God's favor or make ourselves look good. On the contrary, good works are part of God's plan for us, something he created us to do.

This concept can be difficult to understand, especially if we've been taught that we have to do good works to be saved. But the truth is that our good works are not what saves us. It is only through Christ that we are saved. So why bother doing good works?

The purpose of good works
One of the main purposes of good works is to glorify God. As believers, we are called to reflect the image of Christ in everything we do (2 Corinthians 3:18). When non-believers see the love and kindness we show to others, they should question the source of our actions. We can tell them about God's grace and mercy and how He saved us from our sin. In this way, our good works can be a testimony to God's power at work in our lives.

Another purpose of good works is to build up the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:16). We are called to love one another and to help meet the needs of others. This can take many different forms, such as giving financially to support the work of the church or using our time and talents to serve in various ministries. When we serve one another in love, it builds unity within the body and makes us stronger as a whole.

Ultimately, everything we do must be done for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31). This includes our big plans as well as our day-to-day actions. We should always be looking for ways to join God in His work and advance His kingdom here on earth. When we do this, not only do we fulfill God's purpose for our lives, but we also find true joy and satisfaction in everything we do.

May God bless you abundantly!
