The Life of Enoch: an example to follow
Can a person walk with God when continually surrounded by people who reject Him? What does it mean to walk with God?
Consider a man like Enoch. When he lived on earth, violence already characterized the lives of the men around him. Of course, other things were present too. Through agriculture, industry and music, Cain's descendants sought to improve their living conditions without God, but violence and corruption dominated the land (Genesis 4:4-24).
"And, in Genesis 6:11-12: The earth was corrupt before God, the earth was full of violence. God looked upon the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth." Now, in the midst of all this, "Enoch walked with God" (Genesis 5:22). By faith, he led an exemplary life. His eyes were fixed on God's promise, and his days were filled with things pleasing to God.
In our work, we are regularly exposed to swearing.
and tasteless jokes; we're asked to be dishonest if it's part of company policy. At school, the notion of God has been all but banished: textbooks, as well as, our fellow students, bombard us with all things contrary to the word of God.
We also suffer from the false information and corruption that the media force upon us. Is it still possible to live for Christ in a world like this?
Can we go on quietly, bringing joy to his heart?
Let us be encouraged by the example of Enoch. Walk in love, as Christ also loved us and gave himself up for us, as an offering and sacrifice to God as a sweet-smelling perfume...
"For you were once darkness, but now are light in the Lord: walk as children of light." (Ephesians5:2,8)
It is possible in Christ to live according to God's will in a world that is becoming more and more evil.
May the Lord bless you abundantly!
