"Redeem the time, for the days are evil" (Ephesians 5:6)
God's Word defines time as a fixed season allotted to something to accomplish God's work. When the Bible speaks of redeeming time, it means that time is running away.
If there's one inheritance we all have in common, it's time, so we must make the most of the time of life the Lord grants us in this world.
We may want to live on earth for a long time, but that's not where the problem lies. Jesus Christ lived 33 years and accomplished the work of redeeming the world. There are time nibblers who prevent us from fulfilling ourselves:
1. Activism
It's about wanting to do everything without getting a substantial return in the end.
2. Lack of prioritization
We need to focus on those things where we will be productive enough. We need to give pride of place to God's work: "What use is it to a man to gain the world if he loses his soul?
3. Lack of planning
You need to know that if you refuse to plan, you're planning to fail.
4. Bad companies
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:33 that "bad company corrupts good morals".
5. Non-fulfilment
You must always strive to reach the end of your efforts. Remember, it's at the end of the work that you'll be rewarded. God completed the work of creation in six days, so you must complete yours too, if indeed there is any divinity in you.
6. Procrastination
Never put off until tomorrow what you can achieve today. Tomorrow does not belong to us. Today is the right time.
"Teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom" (Ps. 90:12).
