Lamps don't hide

Yet many of the rulers believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess it, for fear of being excluded from the synagogue (John 12:42).

They have believed, but are very discreet, not wanting anyone to know they are Christians. Perhaps they're afraid of being rejected by men, or of being considered strange. This is sometimes due to personal pride or the defense of a certain social rank, and sometimes also because of ambitions. It could be due to the problem of freedom. Whatever the reason, it is certainly not without consequence before God.

This kind of attitude distances man from God. Jesus said, "Whoever denies me before men, him I will also deny before my Father who is in heaven." (Mat. 10:33) And "He who believes in me believes, not in me, but in him who sent me." (John 12:44) In other words, faith needs to be expressed in order to grow. It is by assuming it that its effects bear, and are manifest, in our lives.

The relationship between God and man is of vital importance. "Jesus himself said that our faith needs to be expressed in order to grow.

When we deny Him, we are essentially putting distance between ourselves and God. Not only does this attitude damage our relationship with the Lord, it can also have a negative effect on our lives. When we turn away from God, we miss out on his grace and mercy.

We also miss the opportunity to grow in our faith. By turning away from God, we make it harder for ourselves to find forgiveness and peace.

We need to bear witness to his presence, reminding ourselves that Jesus Christ is always there for us, no matter how far we stray. He's waiting for us with open arms, ready to forgive us and help us grow closer to Him. God bless you!!!
