What does it mean to be sanctified?

The word sanctify comes from the Latin sanctus, meaning holy or consecrated.
Applied to people, it means setting them apart for a particular purpose or making them pure. In the Bible, sanctification is a process that begins when we repent of our sins and put our faith in Jesus Christ.

He washes away our sins and makes us new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17). We are then called to lead a holy life, living in the world but not of it. According to God's Word.

This process of sanctification continues throughout our lives, as we grow in our relationship with God. By reading the Bible and spending time in prayer and doing good deeds for the glory of God, we are transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. We become more like Christ and less like the old me.

The goal of sanctification is to be conformed to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29). When we reach heaven, we will be completely sanctified - perfect, having been made perfect in his presence (1 John 3:2). Until then, we continue to grow in our holiness by following him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.

Sanctification is a process that begins the moment we put our faith in Jesus Christ and continues until we reach heaven. Our goal should be to grow in holiness every day, following Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.

We are also called to be saints because our God is Holy. And, this process of becoming Christ-like begins in this life. It takes effort on our part, but it's worth it, because we know that when we reach heaven, we'll be completely sanctified - perfect in his presence. In the meantime, let us strive to follow him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.
