Go and make disciples

— Understanding Jesus' Call

Matthew 28:19-20
«Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
20 and teach them to observe all that I have commanded you.
And behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.»

1. What we should remember from these verses

This text is called «the Great Mission».
This is Jesus' last commandment before his ascension, so it is an absolute priority for every believer.
Here are the four essential truths to remember:

1.1. «Go»
— Faith is never passive.
Jesus does not say, «Wait for people to come.»
He says: GO.
Christian life is a movement, a mission, a call to step out of our comfort zone.

1.2. «Make disciples»
— Not just converts
A disciple is not someone who says " Amen,»,
but someone who:
• Follows Jesus
• Learn from Jesus
• Imitate Jesus
• Obey Jesus
We are not called to fill a church...
but to shape lives.

1.3. «Teach them to observe»
— True faith produces obedience.
Jesus does not say, «Teach them what I have said.»
He says, «Teach them to OBSERVE.»
In other words:
• Not just understanding
• Not just listening
• But practice
• Living the Word every day

1.4. «I am with you every day.»
We are never alone
God never sends anyone without accompanying them.
The presence of Jesus is the strength of our mission.
He is with you in:
• Your fears
• Your doubts
• Your efforts
• Your words
• Your ministry
• Your daily life

2. How can we teach and exhort based on these verses?

2.1. Encouraging confidence
God never asks for anything without giving the ability to accomplish it.
If He says « Come on,», It is because He opens the way.
«Do not be afraid to move forward, Jesus walks before you.»

2.2. Encouraging obedience
Obedience is the true proof of our love for God.
John 14:15:
- «If you love me, keep my commandments.»
- «It is not the quantity of our prayers that changes the world, but the quality of our obedience.»

2.3. Teaching about personal mission
Every believer is a disciple who makes other disciples.
Even if you are not a pastor, you can:
- Teach your children
• Encourage a colleague
• Evangelize a person
• Pray for someone
• Love as Christ loves
«You are an instrument in God's hands.»

2.4. Revealing the presence of Jesus in our daily lives
The greatest promise is this:
«I AM WITH YOU every day.»
When you pray → He is there.
When you cry → He is there.
When you doubt → He is there.
When you testify → He is there.
When everything falls apart → He stays with you.

3. How can we apply this verse in our daily lives?

✔️ Talking about Jesus with simplicity
A smile, a kind word, or a prayer can save a life.
✔️ Share the Word that you already know
You don't need to know the entire Bible to teach.
Apply what you know, and share what you experience.
✔️ Train someone (even just one person)
A disciple according to Jesus is someone who:
• Learns
• Obeys
• Transmits
✔️ Live the Word before teaching it
The greatest lesson is our life.

Mark 16:15
«Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.»
✔️ On teaching
2 Timothy 2:2
«Entrust it to faithful men, who will be able to teach it to others as well.»
✔️ On obedience
James 1:22
«Put the word into practice, and don't just listen to it.»
✔️ On the presence of God
Joshua 1:9

5. A short biblical story that illustrates this passage

After Pentecost (Acts 2), a simple fisherman — Pierre — filled with the Holy Spirit, obeyed «Go and make disciples.».
Result:
3,000 people saved in a single day.
Why?
Because he has:
• Obeyed
• Spoken
• Taught
• Transmitted
And Jesus was with him.
In the same way, God can use your voice, your testimony, your story.
— «Go and make disciples»
In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus gives all believers their primary mission: to go into the world, make disciples, baptize them, and teach them to obey His Word. This commandment shows that the Christian faith is not passive: it compels us to act, to share the Gospel, and to train other believers. Jesus does not only ask us to pass on what He has said, but to help everyone put His Word into practice.
He also promises: «I am with you every day.» This constant presence reassures us, strengthens us, and gives us the courage we need to accomplish our mission. No matter what difficulties we face, we are never alone.

In a nutshell:
• ➤ We must go: the mission begins with a single step.
• ➤ We must make disciples: train, accompany, pass on.
• ➤ We must teach obedience: a living faith is practiced.
• ➤ We are never alone: Jesus walks with us every day.
These Bible verses remind us that God's mission is our responsibility, but that His presence is our strength.

6. What Jesus is saying to you today

«Go, speak, love, teach... and do not be afraid.
I'm with you.»
You are not alone.
You are not abandoned.
You are not incapable.
You are chosen, sent, and accompanied.

Shalom!
