God is Sovereign

"Job 8:6: -If you are just and upright, surely then He will watch over you, And restore happiness to your innocent dwelling;"

On the subject of grace, Jews have always expressed themselves in the conditional tense, unlike Christians, who all too often use the future tense or the compound past: "Yes, the Lord will do it...; He has already done it...; God has already given; Etc.". These are all statements very often made by Christians. Why do Jews prefer to use the conditional tense?

As for Christians, they're not at all wrong to speak so confidently, because when you read the Bible, you'll notice a large number of promises and prophecies, the Word of God, that always come true. But there's one detail that Christians seem to ignore, and that's that every promise has a condition for fulfillment. God said to Cain: Genesis 4:7: "Surely, if you do well, you will lift up your face...". In Psalms 1:1, it says: "Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked."

On the one hand, there are God's promised graces, and on the other, the conditions for their fulfillment.
The right attitude is to express oneself in the conditional tense. This does not indicate a lack of faith, but rather emphasizes God's sovereignty in fulfilling His promises. James teaches us this: "On the contrary, you should say, 'If God wills, we shall live and do this or that. (James 4:15)

By saying it, we believe that it is favorable to us, because someone has made it possible. The work accomplished by Jesus Christ on the cross gives me the assurance that divine grace is mine. We are God's reference work that he desires to do good to us. He is sovereign.

Amen!
