The words of Jesus

(Truly I tell you, whatever you did to one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did to me, Matthew 25:40).

Jesus' words in Matthew 25:40 are an important reminder to us all that our actions have profound spiritual implications. Every act of kindness towards the world's weakest and most vulnerable people is a sign of Jesus' love for each and every one of us, as if he himself had been the beneficiary of our kindness.

Whatever your convictions, there's no doubt that caring for the billions of people struggling on the margins of society against poverty, inadequate healthcare or lack of education is following Jesus' teachings and reflecting his heart. We all need to realize how interconnected we are.

- And that when we invest in those who are often neglected and left behind, we not only give them hope, we also fulfill the mission Jesus began 2,000 years ago.
