Listen to God's voice

Listening to God's voice in everyday life
When we talk about improving our listening skills, we usually see it as a way of improving communication with others. But we don't often consider the possibility that God speaks to us through his grace, and that by listening better, we can receive his grace more fully. Here are some tips on how I've been able to make room for grace in my life by improving my listening.

Stop and listen
The first step in making room for grace is simply to learn to stand still and listen. This may seem obvious, but it's actually harder than it sounds. We live in a noisy world, full of distractions and clutter that can easily prevent us from hearing God's voice or feeling his presence. It takes practice and discipline to silence the noise around us so we can focus on hearing what He has to say.

Recognizing opportunities
Once you've learned to be quiet and listen, the next step is to recognize the opportunities around you where God might be speaking. For me, this means paying attention to any conversations or situations I find myself in where I sense a spiritual presence or inner voice urging me to act or denounce injustice. These moments are often fleeting, so it's important that we remain vigilant and attentive so as not to miss them when they arise.

Seeking new experiences
Finally, one of the best ways I've found to make room for grace is to seek out new experiences and connect with people who are different from me.

- Whether it's through travel, volunteering, service projects or simply getting out of my comfort zone.

- For these types of activities often offer opportunities for growth and perspective that can open our hearts to new possibilities and revelations about ourselves and our faith.

Making room for grace takes effort, but the rewards are worth it! By actively seeking out opportunities where God might speak through conversations or experiences, by taking time each day to quiet our minds and listen carefully, and by pushing ourselves beyond our comfort zones into unknown places where true transformation happens.

- All these things will help us create space in our lives so that we can receive His grace more deeply into our hearts. May each of us continue to strive toward this goal!

Amen!
