How much do we weigh?
And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; but do no harm to the oil and the wine. (Revelation 6:6)
God weighed us and we were found to be light, just as those who thought they weighed more are light in His scales. The number and quality of sin is irrelevant: every transgression is sin. There is no such thing as a small sin and no such thing as a great sin. We are sinners for every act of disobedience we commit, and we deserve the punishment of the lake of fire.
Rather, it will be a challenge now, because in the time of grace we can still work for our forgiveness and election. Acts 2:38 Peter answered and said to them, "Change, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, that your sins may be forgiven you. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
In this text, we're talking about oil and wine, both of which should be protected from harm. In the Bible, oil has often referred to the Holy Spirit, and wine to the blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross. To be anointed with oil is also a sign of election; to have been identified and set apart by God to clothe oneself with the Holy Spirit and cover oneself with the blood of the Lamb of God are essential for going to heaven. God will spare every soul who is washed in the blood of Jesus and those who are marked with the seal of the Spirit. We are in the Church brothers for our salvation.
He said to them, "Do no harm to the earth, the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the foreheads of the servants of our God" (Revelation 7:3).
And God then gave him the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness he had already received by faith before being circumcised. He thus became the father of all those who believe without being circumcised, so that they too might be declared righteous by God in the same way. (Romans 4:11)
