Help makes sense
"And now, grandchildren, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence, and at his coming we may not be confused and estranged from him. If you know that he is righteous, acknowledge that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him." (1 John 2: 28 - 29)
Beloved, in this commemorative period of Jesus' first coming to earth, we continue to delve into the Scriptures to understand God's will in relation to this event. What we already know is that God wanted to help us by sending His only Son to offer Himself as a sacrifice for the atonement of our sins.
Jesus once said, "When you give a dinner or supper, don't invite your friends, your brothers, your parents, or rich neighbors, lest they invite you in turn and you be repaid; but go rather to the needy, who need it and will be grateful." (Luke 14:12-13). God helped us because we were unable to pay the ransom ourselves for the forgiveness of our sins. Men are evil, sinners who cannot save other sinners. So someone righteous had to sacrifice a righteous person, shedding his blood to save sinners. And that righteous person is Jesus Christ. His blood atones for sins.
We "help" when we're convinced that the other person is incapable of coping with a clearly overwhelming situation on their own. We need to know when to come to the other's aid, so that our action has an impact. God often intervenes in our lives when we can't solve our problems on our own. Let's learn and help.
