The world and these desires will disappear!

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

For all that is in this world-the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, the pride of life-does not come from the Father, but from the world. And this world disappears with all that people desire. But he who does the will of God abides forever. (1 John 2:15-17)

In other words, if our attention is focused on the things of this world, we are not living according to God's will and are not truly connected to Him.

This verse does not mean that we should isolate ourselves from the world or stop caring about others. Rather, it's a reminder that our primary loyalty must be to God and his kingdom, not to earthly things.

When we keep our focus on God, our priorities align with His and we can have a more effective impact on the world for His glory.

The world is temporary. It's full of things that will rust, rot and decay. But the eternal things of God will never pass away. His love, mercy and grace are eternal.

When we love the things of this world more than the things of God, we are not in harmony with Him. We are not living according to God's will.

But those who do God's will abide forever. They have eternal life. Their love grows more and more as they keep His commandments. They no longer love the world or the things in it.

Lord, help us to do your will and nothing but your will above all else Amen!
