Relationship with God
Being a child of God is a real fact
There are times in our relationship with God when it's hard, and then it's really hard.
At times like these, it's tempting to look elsewhere.
(Ruth 1:1_7)
1 In the days of the judges, there was a famine in the land. A man from Bethlehem of Judah went with his wife and two sons to sojourn in the land of Moab. 2 The man's name was Elimelech, his wife's name was Naomi, and his two sons' names were Machlon and Kiljon; they were Ephratians from Bethlehem of Judah. When they came to the land of Moab, they made their home there. 3 Naomi's husband Elimelech died, and she was left with her two sons. 4 They took Moabite wives, one named Orpah and the other Ruth, and lived there about ten years. 5 Machlon and Kiljon also both died, and Naomi was left without her two sons and her husband.
6 Then she arose, she and her daughters-in-law, to leave the land of Moab, for she heard in the land of Moab that the Lord had visited his people and given them bread. 7 She went out from the place where she lived, accompanied by her two daughters-in-law, and set out to return to the land of Judah.
In this text we read the story of a family Abimelech, his wife Naomia and their two sons.
These people were Euphratians from Bethlehem and Judah.
You have to understand that this was a family of God's children.
Why do they leave Bethlehem? Lack of bread.
This state of affairs took them far from the presence of God. Bethlehem means the house of bread. They left the house of bread to feed elsewhere.
When bread is in short supply in God's presence, we must above all remain calm.
Elimélec died and so did his two sons.
Our relationship with God should not be based on what God has, but on what God Is.
Naomi was left a widow, and having heard that God had visited his people, she decided to return to Bethlehem.
You must never leave God's presence, no matter how unfulfilled your needs.
And you who don't know God, don't stay away from Him, for the door to Bethlehem is open. Come, for Jesus Christ invites you not only to enter the New Year, but to do so with Him.
Bless you!
