The Church is a divine will
(Hebrews 10:25) Let us not forsake our assembly, as is the custom of some; but let us exhort one another, and all the more as you see the day approaching. The Church is a divine will
The Bible speaks of an assembly, but which assembly is it if not the assembly of saints commonly called the Church? These are the saints who gather together, also known as Christians. There's the local Church (e.g. the Catholic Church) and then there's the spiritual Church (all those whose names are written in the Book of Life).
"4 As he was with them, he charged them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, what I had proclaimed to you, he said to them" (Acts 1:4)
The Church is a divine institution created by Jesus Christ himself. The Church is Christ's body on earth, and exists to fulfill His will. In Acts 1:4, we see that Jesus instructed his disciples not to leave Jerusalem until they had received the Father's promise.
The Father's promise was the gift of the Holy Spirit, which would enable them to carry out their mission. Today's Church exists to fulfill the same mission Jesus gave his disciples. We are called to be witnesses to the Gospel and to make disciples of all nations. The Church is Christ's hands and feet in the world, and we are called to follow his example in everything we do.
The Church is God's will. To come together in the Church is to obey that will. Six days of the week belong to man, for his own work. God wanted to reserve one day for Himself, to devote to the praise and adoration of His name, and also for our rest. But we want to take it all.
Let's be zealous for our assembly. In the Church, God chooses His elect.
