Opportunities
So many opportunities are available to us to acquire new knowledge and expand our skills. Many books are freely available to learn anything you can imagine. The Internet is overflowing with content and opportunities to learn more about every subject imaginable.
These are excellent starting points for learning. However, the Scriptures tell us that the beginning of all knowledge is the fear of God. We can learn from anyone, but that still means that the beginning of true knowledge starts with God.
Fearing God does not necessarily mean being afraid of him. Rather, it means living our lives in awe of him. To do this, it's good to recognize who he is. He is the creator and source of all things. He is all-powerful and all-knowing. God's word says that he holds the power of life and death in his hands. These are attributes that should cause us to stand in awe of God.
The Scriptures also say that God is loving, full of grace and mercy. Even though we, his own creation, once abandoned him. Even though we rebelled against him, God allowed us in his grace to regain access to him through his son, Jesus. The God who created the universe loves each and every one of us.
Knowing God personally and being in awe of his person and actions is the beginning of all knowledge.
It would be foolish to turn away from such a powerful and good God. A book on the Internet can teach us many things. However, the most essential and important knowledge about God comes from his own word.
Spend time with God in prayer, thanking him for who he is and for all he has done for you. Get into the habit of reading the Scriptures regularly to get to know him better.
