Prayer (Nehemiah 1:5-11)

5 And I said:
O LORD, God of heaven, great and awesome God, you who keep your covenant and show mercy to those who love you and keep your commandments!

6 Let your ear be attentive and your eyes open: listen to the prayer that your servant is making to you at this time, day and night, for your servants, the children of Israel, confessing the sins of the children of Israel, our sins against you; for I and my father's house have sinned.

7 We have offended you, and have not kept the commandments, the statutes and the ordinances which you commanded your servant Moses.

8 Remember this word which you commanded your servant Moses to speak. When you sin, I will scatter you among the peoples;

9 But if you return to me, and keep my commandments and do them, then, when you are exiled to the ends of heaven, from there I will gather you and bring you back to the place I have chosen to make my name dwell there.

10 They are your servants and your people, whom you have redeemed by your great power and by your strong hand.

11 Ah Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants who want to fear your name! Give your servant success this day, and give him grace before this man! I was the king's cupbearer.

Amen!
