Graces attract!
Abandon your problems to God, stop stressing, God has the solution!
Knowing how to attract God's graces (Daniel 1: 1 - 21).
The first chapter of the prophet Daniel is full of teachings, but the Spirit allows us to be edified on two aspects for now:
A well-watered plant also grows well and bears fruit: These words appeal to parents, who are responsible for their children's future. They prepare for it in early childhood. Scripture says: "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it". (Proverb 22:6).
Daniel presents himself as a child who benefited from very good parental guidance. This enabled him to possess the qualities the King of Babylon was looking for in a Hebrew child: healthy, wise, intelligent and well-educated Jewish children. Daniel and his three companions met these criteria perfectly.
(Read Luke 2: 1 - 12)
Graces attract: We have many graces from the Lord. But it just takes a little effort on our part to appropriate and receive them. Otherwise, it's there for us. For Daniel, his presence in the royal palace is not an opportunity for social success to the point of forgetting his God. God comes first. In fact, it's called an excellent opportunity when the arrangements are in line with God's will. So Daniel had to be meticulous about everything he did so as not to offend God. He had to give priority to his relationship with God: submission and chastity.
He refused to defile himself with the delicacies of the royal table. He knew that God was with him and for him. The fear of God banishes fear and creates hope. Daniel chose God, and God could not fail to support him as he does all those who put their trust in him. When we are faithful, the Lord saves and fills us with his graces and blessings. Jesus said: "Seek ye first the kingdom and the righteousness of God, and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33), a promise always fulfilled.
Daniel stood the test because he was faithful, he had the fear of God. He kept the instruction. The Bible declares, "Blessed is the man who patiently endures temptation; for after he has been tested, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those who love him." (James 1: 12)
