Fear of the Lord and humility

Proverbs 15:33 says, "The fear of the Lord teaches wisdom, and humility goes before glory."

This verse evokes a very important truth about how we are to live our lives as Christians. We must strive to have a deep reverence for God in everything we do, and accept that it is only through humility that we will experience his glory in our lives. Let's take a closer look at these two concepts.

The fear of the Lord

The fear of the Lord is not about being afraid or dreading God, but about having reverent respect for Him and understanding that He is sovereign over all things. As said Proverbs 2:5, "You will find understanding by learning the fear-inspiring ways of the Lord." When we have this kind of understanding, it helps us make wise decisions in our daily lives, because we understand that any decision we make will ultimately be judged by God.

Humility comes before glory

Humility is something many people struggle with because they want to be considered important and successful in their own eyes. But, Proverbs 15:33 reminds us that humility must always precede glory, meaning that before anything else, we must first humble ourselves before God if we want to receive His blessings. In other words, our attitude towards God must always be one of humility and reverence if we are to experience His true glory in our lives.

It's easy to forget sometimes how important it is for us to have reverence for God and remain humble before Him if we want to enjoy His blessings in life. Thankfully, Proverbs 15:33 reminds us of this crucial truth. The fear of the Lord teaches wisdom and humility precedes glory!
So it's never too late to start living by these principles, so let's strive every day to put them into practice so we can fully experience all that God has planned for us.

Amen!
