Some characteristics of God's children
God's children are characterized by being loving, caring and generous. They must also show empathy for others as well as self-control in order not only to share their abundance, but also to help others grow by teaching them what it means when Jesus tells us that we have enough food on earth (Mt 6:20).
Children of God must be compassionate, forgiving and full of love for others. They must also teach how to live, and abide, in Christ-Jesus.
He practices righteousness: "If you know that he is righteous, recognize that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him." (1 John 2: 29)
He keeps the hope of his future incorruptible nature: "Beloved, we are now children of God, and what we shall be has not yet been manifested; but we know that when it is manifested we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is." (1 John 3:2)
He does not practice sin: "Whoever is born of God does not practice sin, because the seed of God dwells in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." (1 John 3:9)
He is compassionate: "Little children, let us not love in word and tongue, but in deed and truth." (1 John 3: 18)
He believes in Jesus Christ and loves his neighbor as himself: "And this is his commandment: that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, according to the commandment he gave us." (1 John 3:23)
He keeps God's Word, which he meditates on daily: "He who keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him" (1 John 3:24).
He has the Holy Spirit and God listens to him: "He dwells in us through the Spirit he has given us." (1 John 3:24)
He has the assurance of eternal life and abides in the truth in all things.
