Our New Identity in Christ Galatians
Galatians 2:20-21 is an important Bible verse about the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and its effect on believers. In this verse, Paul explains the profound significance of Jesus Christ's saving act. This act not only saved our souls, but also gave us a new identity in Christ. In this post, we'll take a closer look at Galatians 2:20-21 and discover its significance.
Verse 20 begins with Paul affirming that he has been crucified with Christ. This means that Paul has died to his old life and been raised to a new life in Christ. Paul no longer lives for himself, but for Christ who lives in him. This passage means that believers have been identified with Christ and have found a new identity in Him. We have been crucified with Christ and are now lifted up into our new life in him.
Paul goes on to say that what he now lives in his body, he lives in faith in the Son of God. This means that Paul did not achieve his new identity in Christ by his own efforts, but through faith in Jesus Christ. In the same way, we cannot achieve our new identity in Christ through our own efforts, but only through faith in Jesus Christ. So our new identity in Christ is achieved by faith in him.
Paul concludes by saying that he does not reject God's grace. God's grace is the undeserved favor he gives us as believers. We cannot earn our salvation by our own actions, but only by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. If righteousness is obtained by the law, then Christ died for nothing.
Verse 21 underlines once again the uselessness of the law for obtaining righteousness. The law could not save us, since we are all sinners and cannot earn God's favor by our own actions. Christ's death was necessary to save us from our sins, and so we are saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
Galatians 2:20-21 is an important Bible verse that reminds us that we have a new identity in Christ, obtained through faith in him. We have been crucified with him and raised to a new life in him. We cannot earn our salvation by our own efforts, but only by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Christ's death was necessary to save us from our sins and give us a new identity in him.
May this verse be a reminder to us all that we are saved by God's grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
May the Lord bless you!
