Choosing Friends

A man of God came to him, and said, O king, let no army of Israel march with you, for the Lord is not with Israel, with all these sons of Ephraim. (2 Chronicles 25:7)

You don't team up with everyone, because some people are cursed. Israel was under a curse at the time, so it was impossible for Judah to team up with them for any campaign at the risk of defeat.

The curse of one can affect the whole team. Jonah, fleeing from God, was the cause of much anguish on a boat crossing to Tarshish. The boat almost capsized because Jonah was on board (Jonah 1,2). When we build relationships, we need to be discerning. For some can cause our downfall, because of the curses that pursue them, especially when God necessarily wants to punish them.

Knowing how to choose your company means knowing how to opt for an ideal way of life. Some people are real obstacles to the elevation of others. An organization with such people, who have no fear of God, cannot evolve and is even threatened with extinction. We must purify ourselves and sincerely attach ourselves to Jesus Christ.
