Overcoming academic failure

Hello everyone, I am 20 years old, I live in Belgium and here is my story:

I had just learned that I had passed my second semester exams to go on to the sixth form. I was thrilled, and had set myself a goal that I wouldn't have any more second sessions.

At the start of the new school year, I was in the middle of a discussion with my friends when one of the new teachers we were about to have called out to us to tell us that we had to go to class because the school principal had an announcement to make. And so, once we were in the classroom and settled in, the principal announced that from now on, we would no longer be able to have second sessions during the vacations, but that we would be able to sit at least three exams in January, just after the Christmas vacations.

Brilliant! I was looking forward to passing without having a second session, and now that's been abolished! It was enough to put the pressure on everyone, because it was either you pass or you fail. But that didn't mean I gave up and didn't work hard. On the contrary, I worked like crazy, but unfortunately my efforts and hard work didn't pay off and I had to redo my sixth year while all my friends had succeeded.

You're probably wondering how I got back on track. Well, I remembered one of the Lord of Hosts' sayings, "Who falls without rising? It was this phrase that gave me the determination not to give up and to keep fighting until I finally got my high school diploma, and finally, after so much hard work, I passed my CESS.

I can assure you that I jumped for joy all over the house. At the moment, I'm in my first year of a bachelor's degree in chemistry. So if I have any advice to give you, I can give you two pieces of advice from a song written by Wilf Enighma called "la vie ici-bas" (life down here).

Whatever your setbacks Even if everything goes wrong And if everything seems to be upside down, Take courage and persevere.

Whatever your ambitions Your faith and devotion... And you don't get what you want Always give it your all.
