When we speak of a sword, we are mainly referring to combat or war. Soldiers in those days wore armor to protect themselves and carried swords to attack and slay their enemies.<\/p>\n The Christian is like a soldier for Christ, holding in his heart the sword of God's Word to resist the devil's schemes. The war itself has become primarily spiritual.<\/p>\n The sword is what the Christian carries, having the ability to wound and defeat the enemy. \u00abThe word of God is living and powerful\u00bb (Heb. 4:12). It is very effective. You cannot have a soldier with all the armor without the sword. The Word of God is effective in resisting the enemy's schemes. Studying it is necessary. During His 40 days of temptation in the desert, it was through the Word that Jesus Christ resisted Lucifer Satan and defeated him (Luke 4:1-13). Jesus had knowledge of the Word, and the Holy Spirit was with Him.<\/strong><\/p>\n Therefore, in order to resist, we need three things: to be filled with the Holy Spirit, knowledge of God's Word, and God's true love. If the Lord says that His people perish because they lack knowledge (Hosea 4:6), then knowledge of the Holy Scriptures is a necessity in spiritual warfare.<\/p>\n P.
