Being insulted or denigrated publicly can leave painful wounds and scars. So, how should we react in these moments?

How can we love those who offend us and move forward with a positive attitude? Fortunately, the Bible sheds light on this subject and shows us the way forward.

1. Loving in spite of pain: a call from Jesus Christ

In Matthew 5:44, Jesus Christ gives us a radical command: "But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."

2. Forgive to free yourself

Forgiveness is an essential step in moving forward positively in life. The Bible teaches us in Ephesians 4:32: "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you." Forgiveness doesn't mean instantly forgetting or minimizing what was done, but rather choosing not to let that pain control our lives.

3. Placing justice in God's hands

When we're hurt, it's natural to want justice. But the Bible reminds us in Romains 12:19: "Do not take vengeance on yourselves, beloved, but let wrath have its way; for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay,' says the Lord."
This attitude frees us from the desire for revenge and allows us to focus on what's constructive: our relationship with God, our inner peace and our life goals.

4. Move positively through life

5. Pratiquer la prière et l’humilité

When we find it hard to forgive or love, prayer is a powerful weapon. In Matthew 6:12, Jesus teaches us to pray: "Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us." This prayer reminds us that we too have been forgiven by God, despite our faults, and that we are called to offer this forgiveness to others.

6. Receive God's peace and joy

Philippians 4:7 declares, "And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." This peace enables us to walk serenely, despite the storms around us.
In Christ, we find a joy that transcends our circumstances: the joy of knowing that we are loved, forgiven and carried by God. This joy becomes our strength, as Néhémie 8 :10 : « La joie de l’Éternel sera votre force. »
________________________________________

Love, forgive and move on

As we move forward with this attitude, we find peace, joy and new strength to continue our journey. So let's fix our eyes on Jesus and trust him to guide us through each of life's challenges. May his love and grace fill our hearts and help us to shine as lights in this world!
Key verses to remember:
- "Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you." (Matthew 5:44)
- "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God forgave you in Christ." (Ephesians 4:32)
- "Do not take vengeance on yourselves, but let wrath have its way;
