In Daniel 4, we learn how God tried repeatedly to get Nebuchadnezzar\u2019s attention, but to no avail. Even though God performed miracles, signs, and wonders before him, the ruler remained stubbornly indifferent to God\u2019s greatness. However, God finally took action to punish the king and teach him an important lesson. Nebuchadnezzar then recognized God\u2019s greatness and bore witness to His power.<\/p>\n
God has an important rule that He follows, and this is clear in Daniel 4:37: \u00abGod can bring down those who walk in pride.\u00bb God can and will bring down those who think they are superior and who ignore His power. But obedience to His voice will lead to a blessed life. God wants us to be obedient because it leads to our prosperity. \u00abIf you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best of the land\u00bb (Isaiah 1:19).<\/p>\n
Obedience to God must be a priority in our lives. Going to church, giving offerings, and helping others are good deeds, but they are not enough if we do not live in accordance with God\u2019s will. \u00abObedience is better than sacrifice, and listening is better than the fat of rams\u00bb (1 Samuel 15:22). If we do our best to be obedient to God\u2019s voice, we will receive His blessings.<\/p>\n
It is important to note that obedience to God will not necessarily protect us from life\u2019s difficulties. The story of Nebuchadnezzar shows how even powerful rulers can suffer setbacks and be brought down. However, obedience to God will help us navigate life\u2019s difficulties with strength, peace, and hope. \u00abI have told you these things so that you may have peace in me. In this world you will have trouble; but take heart\u2014I have overcome the world\u00bb (John 16:33).<\/p>\n
This account of Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4 reminds us of the importance of obedience to God, even when we face difficulties. God may humble those who walk in pride, but with obedience to His voice comes security, prosperity, joy, greatness, strength, power, peace, and faith. Going to church, giving offerings, and helping others are good deeds, but they are not enough if we are not obedient to God\u2019s voice in our lives. We must constantly seek to listen to and follow His voice in order to receive His blessings.<\/p>\n
