According to the Bible, it was through this act that Christ brought salvation and righteousness to all believers. After his death on the cross, Jesus rose from the dead three days later and ascended into heaven, where he now sits at the right hand of God. Let\u2019s see what the Bible teaches us about these two pivotal events.<\/p>\n The crucifixion of Jesus<\/strong><\/p>\n Jesus' crucifixion is recounted in the four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. According to the Scriptures, Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot, and arrested by Roman soldiers in Gethsemane. He was then brought before Pontius Pilate, and sentenced to death by crucifixion. On the hill of Calvary (also known as Golgotha), Jesus was nailed to a cross between two criminals, where he suffered greatly before dying.<\/strong><\/p>\n The resurrection of Jesus<\/strong><\/p>\n The resurrection of Jesus is also recounted in the four Gospels. According to the Scriptures, after three days in the tomb (what we now call Easter Sunday), an angel descended from heaven and rolled away the stone from the entrance to Christ\u2019s tomb. When Mary Magdalene arrived at the tomb, she met this angel, who told her that Christ had risen.
