In the book of 1 John, we are presented with powerful words that express the grace of God, Jesus Christ, our Savior and our Righteousness. This message is intended for both believers and non-believers. Let\u2019s take a closer look at what this verse has to say about the Word of Life.<\/p>\nThe meaning of 1 John 1<\/strong> The following phrase: \u00bbwhich we have heard,\u00ab refers to all Christians who have heard or read the Scriptures. We have heard His voice by reading His Word. He speaks to us through His Word, which enlightens our hearts and minds (2 Timothy 3:16\u201317). Furthermore, hearing the Word of God leads to faith in Him (Romans 10:17).<\/p>\n The third part\u2014\u00abwhat we have seen with our own eyes\u00bb\u2014refers to Jesus\u2019 time on earth. His disciples saw him in person as they walked through Galilee, preached in the temple courts, and healed the sick and suffering (Matthew 4:23\u201324; 9:35\u201336). They were direct witnesses to his ministry and his miracles. Seeing him walk among them was, for them, sufficient proof that he was indeed the Lord of all things.<\/p>\n The last part\u2014\u00bbwhich we have seen and our hands have touched concerning the word of life\u00ab\u2014also refers to Jesus\u2019 time on earth, since he was a living being whom they touched with their hands and spoke to face to face. His words brought life to their hearts when they met him in person during his earthly ministry (John 6:63; 20:29; Luke 24:39).<\/p>\n 1 John 1 is a powerful reminder that a relationship with God begins by listening to His Word, seeing Him at work, looking into His eyes, and connecting with Him through prayerful conversation.
