The second part of 1 Corinthians 6:12 states, «But not everything is beneficial for me. Everything is permissible for me, but I will not be enslaved by anything.»

– This means that even if something may be legal or permitted under Christian law, it may still be morally or spiritually wrong. This point serves as a reminder that even though, as believers, we are free to act as we see fit, there are still standards established by God’s Word that must guide us toward a righteous life.

In other words, just because something isn't explicitly forbidden doesn't mean it's right either. We must exercise wisdom and discernment when making decisions about our conduct.

In conclusion, 1 Corinthians 6:12 serves as an important reminder of the freedom God has given us as believers and of the importance of exercising discretion when making decisions about our conduct. It also emphasizes the importance of understanding what God has said about certain behaviors before engaging in them.

– Even though these behaviors are not explicitly prohibited by Scripture.
– To avoid any potential bondage caused by sin against God’s will. Ultimately, this passage reminds us of the grace and justice we find in Jesus.
