How can we seek true justice through grace and mercy?<\/p>\n
As believers, we seek justice for every wrong done to us. We feel rage when someone does something unjust, and that emotion can quickly take control of our thoughts and actions.<\/p>\n
However, Jesus calls us to a different approach\u2014one of grace and mercy. To achieve true justice, we must learn to forgive even those who have wronged us; only in this way can harmony among us all be restored. Let\u2019s explore why we must strive to achieve true justice through grace and mercy.<\/p>\n
The Bible tells us that God is a just God, who desires justice in all things (Psalm 9:7-8). He also calls us to treat others with kindness and respect (Matthew 7:12). Therefore, if we are to act in accordance with God's will, we need to approach every situation with grace and mercy, leaving vengeance to God.<\/strong><\/p>\n Furthermore, Jesus teaches that anger is not an appropriate response to injustice (Matthew 5:22). On the contrary, he encourages us to turn the other cheek and forgive others, even when that seems to be the hardest thing to do (Luke 6:27\u201328). In such situations, it takes humility on our part to recognize the dignity of every person involved. This kind of attitude gives us the opportunity to show our love for God by loving our neighbor as ourselves (James 2:8).<\/strong><\/p>\n Finally, turning away from revenge allows us to demonstrate our faith in God\u2019s ultimate plan of justice. We may never know what God\u2019s purpose is in this life, nor why some people choose to act unjustly toward others; however, as believers, we must trust Him, for He ultimately oversees the justice that is meted out at all times (Romans 12:19). If we can accept this truth\u2014that God will ultimately bring about perfect justice\u2014then we can forgive those who have wronged us without fearing that they will go unpunished.<\/p>\n For true justice to be served, we must first choose grace and mercy over anger when faced with injustice. This requires humility on our part, as well as a recognition of the dignity of every person involved in the situation.
