God's Plan for Us, the Lord<\/strong><\/p>\n(Ephesians 2:10) tells us that we owe who we are to God. Through our union with Christ, Jesus, God has created us for a life filled with good works that He has prepared in advance for us to do. This concept can be difficult to understand, especially if we\u2019ve been taught that we must do good deeds to be saved. But the truth is that our good deeds are not what save us. It is solely through Christ that we are saved. So why bother doing good deeds?<\/p>\nThe purpose of good works<\/strong> Another purpose of good works is to build up the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:16). We are called to love one another and to help meet the needs of others. This can take many different forms, such as giving financially to support the church\u2019s work or using our time and talents to serve in various ministries. When we serve one another in love, it builds unity within the body and makes us stronger as a whole.<\/p>\n Ultimately, everything we do must be done for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31). This includes our big plans as well as our day-to-day actions. We should always be looking for ways to join God in His work and advance His kingdom here on earth. \nIn other words, good deeds are not something we must do to earn God\u2019s favor or to make Him look favorably upon us. On the contrary, good deeds are part of God\u2019s plan for us; they are the very purpose for which He created us.\n
\nOne of the main purposes of good deeds is to glorify God. As believers, we are called to reflect the image of Christ in everything we do (2 Corinthians 3:18). When non-believers see the love and kindness we show toward others, they should wonder about the source of our actions. We can tell them about God\u2019s grace and mercy and how He has saved us from our sin. In this way, our good deeds can be a testimony to the power of God at work in our lives.\n
